Carrier Relations Specialist (Part-Time)

Duties / Responsibilites

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Primary daily point of contact for carrier partners within the United States
  • Assist in the procurement of short-term and tactical transportation capacity
  • Communicating Key Performance Indicators to carrier partners and leveraging contractual obligations and relationships to ensure compliance
  • Communicate daily sourcing needs to carriers while optimizing and maximizing contracted capacity
  • Attend selected carrier meetings including compiling and evaluating summaries of carrier performance
  • Assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership for assigned region
  • Provide recommendations for supplier process improvements
  • Interaction with various supply chain departments to drive transportation initiatives
  • Provide assistance to the operations team and their carrier/project needs
  • On-board, train, and develop new carriers

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma (College Preferred but not required)
  • Logistics Experience 0-2 years
  • Sales Experience (preferred but not required)

 

Language Ability:

Ability to comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of Terra Worldwide Logistics.

 

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills:

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, Outlook, Internet Explorer)

None

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position will not have any direct reports.
