Corporate Paralegal

Duties / Responsibilites

Position Summary:

The Paralegal will be reviewing contracts/agreements pertaining to customers, carriers, vendors, and internal compliance/HR legal documents. You will work in tandem with parent company’s legal department providing information and/or edits to KCH’s management.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review all customer, carrier and vendor contracts
  • Check and edit legal forms and documents for accuracy
  • Forward contracts needing review to appropriate management
  • Perform legal and factual research
  • Perform record research
  • Organize and analyze information
  • Cross-check and validate information
  • Draft legal documents including agreements, contracts, and compliance/HR as needed
  • Read and understand insurance requirements between customers and carriers
  • Ensure products, systems, and procedures comply with all regulatory items
  • Keep track of changes in the legal framework and provide timely updates
  • Communicate effectively between multiple departments and Executive Management

  • Ability to recognize issues regarding compliance or financial in documentation
  • Understand and familiar with transportation claims
  • Good knowledge of overall transportation compliance policies
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to communicate complex information in an easy-to-understand format
  • Knowledge of legal principles, practices, laws, and regulations (local, state, and federal)
  • Knowledge of legal terminology and communication

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Certification in paralegal studies
  • 3+ years in paralegal studies and/or work
  • Knowledge of multiple transportation mode types
  • Proven ability to plan and manage operational process for maximum efficiency and productivity
  • Extensive supply chain market knowledge

 

Language Ability:

Ability to comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of Terra Worldwide Logistics.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer)

This position will have a number of resources under management
