Market Analyst Specialist

Duties / Responsibilites

Position Summary:

The Market Analyst Specialist will assist in collecting external market data, analytics, customer, and industry trends to identify potential threats and opportunities that may impact the overall success of the company.  This role will also be responsible for making strategical pricing recommendations based on current, past and future predicted market conditions. The position is responsible researching and analyzing current market condition and forecasting trends, assessing the potential for business opportunities as they relate to sales, solutions, marketing, and operations. To be successful in this role, you’ll need to excel in gathering and leveraging internal and external customer data, utilizing web analytics tools, and communicating findings in a clear and comprehensive manner.

Candidates must have a strong understanding of the freight industry, including processes, operations, KPI’s, economic impacts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Gather, analyze, and interpret data collected from external & internal sources to prepare monthly ad hoc reports
  • Analyze current market conditions and compare to external/internal historical data trends
  • Forecast future short term / long term market trends
  • Maintain historical pricing records of various market conditions
  • Monitor internal/external pricing directly related to market changes
  • Provide strategical pricing plans related to market conditions to multiple internal departments
  • Analyze current market conditions and provide strategic alignment based on internal needs
  • Develop and leverage external resources to gain market intelligence and gain expertise on market areas of interest, with primary focus on customer key sectors
  • Proactively suggest strategical adjustments based on future market changes
  • Provide feedback/input into customer RFQ responses
  • Review of transportation contracts, rate sheets and perform rate analysis on RFQs as necessary

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related field
  • 3+ years in supply chain logistics industry
  • Knowledge of multiple transportation mode types
  • Proven ability to plan and manage operational process for maximum efficiency and productivity
  • Extensive supply chain market knowledge


Language Ability:

Ability to comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of Terra Worldwide Logistics.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet Explorer)

This position will have a number of resources under management
