Client Profile

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) was formally established in 1979 to support American citizens and first responders in their efforts to develop capabilities that help protect against, respond to, and recover from disasters. As a FEMA affiliate, KCH Transportation has a specialized FEMA disaster relief team of veteran transportation brokers specializing in quick problem-solving. We understand that service failures are unacceptable when it comes to FEMA. That’s why the agency regularly calls on us for professional, fast, white-glove service at a moment’s notice.

Client Need

MISSION 2: EMERGENCY DISASTER REPORT

When disaster struck Alabama, FEMA needed assistance transporting food and other critical supplies from their location in California. In total, they needed 59 teams in order to provide Alabamans with the necessary support.

The FEMA Disaster Relief agency understood that posting out to load boards and calling on small trucking companies would not get them everything they needed in time. They needed a partner who could rally the resources required to complete the mission on time.

FEMA reached out to KCH Transportation for assistance in pulling the teams and trucks together. As always, we were ready to respond quickly to assist their humanitarian efforts to help Americans in need.

Approach/Solution

FEMA contacted us with their requirements at 18:00. They advised that they needed all 59 teams loaded and ready to deploy from California by 08:00 the following day.

We immediately got on the phone to call carriers from our extensive North American network to help us fulfill this mission. By 22:30, we had all 59 teams arriving at FEMA’s California location, giving the agency ample time to load and ship the emergency goods.

KCH also handled the sizable backend administrative work for this project, including tracking and tracing each team and trailer, and ensuring that everyone was held to a schedule.

The service professionals who worked together seamlessly under our Mobile Trailer Maintenance Program successfully completed repairs on over 75 trailers, after which they were approved to return to service. Our fast response allowed FEMA to continue delivering emergency supplies on schedule.

“We understood how critical this project was and poured everything we had into helping FEMA fulfill its mission on the Gulf Coast. KCH is proud to continue partnering with FEMA to help others in need across America.” – Jason Whitten, President, KCH Transportation.

Result

The emergency relief teams arrived in Alabama on schedule with no interruptions or service failures. Our team collaborated efficiently with FEMA and our partner carriers for perfect execution, proving again that miracles can happen with the right team in place.

“The white glove service we offer FEMA is something we provide to all of our customers. No matter what your transportation needs are, KCH responds quickly with the quality service you deserve. Our approach to treating customers with care continues to be the cornerstone of our success.” – Jason Whitten, President, KCH Transportation
